Who we are: AuctionEquitiesDetect (auctiondetect.com) is the trading name under which AUCTION EQUITIES, L.P. operates this website and marketplace. In the course of sourcing and delivering vehicles, we work with a network of partner banks, lenders, consignors, and other auction and logistics companies. AUCTION EQUITIES, L.P. manages your purchase through this site, including invoicing, payment instructions, delivery coordination, inspection, acceptance, and returns under the terms below.
We know that buying a vehicle online — sight-unseen, before it arrives at your door — takes a leap of trust. That's why we've built our payment and return process to be as transparent and buyer-friendly as possible. For most transactions, buyer funds are handled through an independent U.S. escrow provider so the seller does not receive the purchase funds before the buyer has received the vehicle and completed the applicable inspection and acceptance process. Below you'll find exactly how payment works, when your vehicle ships, and how our 5-day return policy protects you if things don't work out.

1. How Payment Works

When you win an auction, you'll receive an official invoice from our team with the payment instructions for your specific vehicle. For most transactions, payment is handled through an independent, established U.S. escrow provider. The escrow payment details applicable to your purchase are provided after your invoice has been issued.

Escrow is used primarily for your protection. Instead of sending your purchase funds directly to the seller, bank, lender, or consignor, the funds are held separately while the transaction is completed. The seller does not receive the escrowed purchase funds simply because you have paid your invoice or because the vehicle has been dispatched.

Why we use escrow: We want you to have the opportunity provided under your transaction terms to receive the vehicle, inspect it, drive it, and make your decision before the seller receives the escrowed purchase funds. When you decide to keep the vehicle, you contact our team and provide the required acceptance confirmation. The funds can then be released in accordance with the applicable transaction and escrow terms.

You do not need to find an escrow company yourself, create an account on an unrelated escrow website, or arrange a separate escrow transaction. When escrow applies, the process is coordinated as part of your AuctionEquitiesDetect transaction. The correct instructions are provided to you after your official invoice is issued.

This is important for your security: do not independently search online for an escrow company and do not follow payment instructions received from an unrelated third party. Use only the payment instructions associated with your official AuctionEquitiesDetect transaction.

When Direct Company Payment Is Used

Escrow is our primary payment structure for most eligible transactions, but it is not required for every vehicle. Certain vehicles may be owned or sold directly by AUCTION EQUITIES, L.P. or by an established bank, lender, consignor, or business partner with whom we have a direct written or contractual relationship.

In those cases, your official invoice may direct payment to the authorized business account of AUCTION EQUITIES, L.P. or the applicable company instead of an escrow account. This is a secondary payment structure used only where the specific transaction and our relationship with the vehicle owner permit direct settlement.

The correct payment destination for your specific purchase will always be identified in your official transaction documents. We do not ask buyers to send vehicle purchase funds to an individual's personal bank account.

2. Accepted Payment Method

At this time, payments are made by bank transfer (wire transfer). Bank transfer provides a clear and traceable payment record and avoids the additional processing costs associated with many card-based payment methods.

For most purchases, your invoice and subsequent transaction instructions will direct the required funds to the designated escrow account used for that transaction. Escrow details are provided only after the invoice has been issued so that the payment instructions can be matched to the correct buyer, vehicle, invoice, and transaction.

No separate escrow registration is required from you. You do not need to open an account with another escrow website or independently arrange escrow services. When escrow applies, we coordinate the process as part of your purchase and provide the required payment instructions for your transaction.

For certain direct-sale or authorized partner transactions, your invoice may instead direct payment to AUCTION EQUITIES, L.P.'s company account or to the authorized business account of the bank, lender, consignor, or contractual partner associated with the vehicle.

For your security, always follow the payment instructions associated with your official invoice and transaction. If you are uncertain about the receiving company, escrow instructions, or bank details, contact our Support Center before sending funds.

3. Payments Over $30,000

For purchases above $30,000, we offer the flexibility to split payment into two installments:

1

First Installment

Typically around half the purchase price, due to confirm your win and begin processing.

2

Title Processing

We finalize paperwork and clearance with the originating bank/institution.

3

Final Installment

The remaining balance is due once bank/title paperwork is fully cleared.

4

Vehicle Ships

Delivery is scheduled only once the required payment in full has been received.

Important: A vehicle never leaves for delivery until the required payment has been received in full. When escrow applies, receiving the full purchase amount does not mean the funds are immediately released to the seller. The escrowed funds remain subject to the applicable transaction, inspection, acceptance, and escrow terms. This protects the buyer while ensuring the transaction is fully documented before the vehicle changes hands.

4. What Happens Before Your Vehicle Ships

  • Your required payment is received and confirmed in full;
  • For escrow transactions, the funds remain separate from the seller pending the applicable acceptance and release conditions;
  • Our team finalizes title transfer paperwork with the originating bank or institution;
  • Delivery logistics are scheduled and shared with you, including estimated arrival timing;
  • Your vehicle is shipped, fully insured, to your delivery address.
After delivery: Your 5-day inspection period begins when the vehicle is delivered. During this period you can inspect and drive the vehicle. If you decide to keep it, contact our team and provide the required acceptance confirmation. For transactions using escrow, seller payment is released only in accordance with the applicable acceptance and escrow terms.

5. Our 5-Day Return Policy

Once your vehicle is delivered, the clock starts on your 5-day inspection period. This is your chance to drive it, look it over, and make sure it's the right fit — and if it isn't, for any reason, you can return it.

What you can do Details
Inspect & drive Take the vehicle out, check it over, get comfortable with your purchase.
Change your mind Don't love it? You can return it for any reason within the 5-day window.
Stay insured The vehicle remains fully insured by AuctionEquitiesDetect for the entire 5-day period.

We're not strict about this — we want you to feel genuinely confident in your purchase. The goal of this policy is to take the risk out of buying sight-unseen, not to make returns difficult.

If your purchase uses escrow: the seller does not receive the escrowed purchase funds merely because the vehicle has been delivered. Release of funds remains subject to the applicable acceptance and escrow terms. If you decide that you do not want to keep the vehicle during the valid return period, contact our Support Center instead of providing acceptance.

6. How to Start a Return

  1. Contact our Support Center within your 5-day inspection window.
  2. Let us know you'd like to return the vehicle — you don't need to give a detailed reason, though we're always happy to hear feedback.
  3. If your transaction uses escrow, do not provide acceptance of the vehicle if you have decided to return it.
  4. Our team will arrange pickup logistics and confirm the next steps with you directly.
  5. Once the vehicle is returned and inspected, your refund is processed (see Section 7).

7. Refund Timing

Refunds are processed back to your original payment method within up to 7 business days of us receiving the returned vehicle and completing a brief condition check. For escrow transactions, any return of escrowed funds is also subject to the applicable escrow provider's processing procedures and banking timelines.

8. What's Not Covered by Returns

To keep this process fair for everyone, a few common-sense exceptions apply:

  • Damage, accidents, or losses caused by the buyer during the inspection period — even though the vehicle remains insured, buyer-caused damage may be deducted from your refund or invoiced separately.
  • Returns requested after the 5-day inspection window has closed.
  • Vehicles not returned in substantially the same condition as delivered (normal test-driving wear is expected and fine).

Outside of these reasonable exceptions, we genuinely want this to be an easy, low-stress process for you.

9. Questions Before You Bid?

If you have questions about a specific listing, payment timing, escrow, or how the return process works, don't wait until after you've won — reach out to our Support Center beforehand. We're happy to walk you through anything before you place a bid.

Not sure where your payment is going? Ask us before sending it. We can confirm whether your specific transaction uses escrow or an authorized direct company payment and verify the payment instructions associated with your invoice.
